From 1963 to 1968 the Nikon F in particular was therefore labeled ' Nikkor'. The similarity to the Carl Zeiss AG brand "ikon", would cause some early problems in Germany as Zeiss complained that Nikon violated its trademarked camera. It would also be nice if for every product they listed what size the model was wearing. I’d definitely buy more clothes from them if that was a feature of the app but I’m usually hesitant to because I don’t want to waste my money on something that’s cute but I have no way to tell if it’ll look good on me. Something I’d love (and I’m sure would be really helpful to others) is for them to have the option to include a picture when writing a review - obviously the clothes are going to look great on the models because they chose people who’s bodies fit societal standards the most but it’d be nice to be able to see what their clothes look like on the average person before you purchase because the body does not come with the clothes, haha. My clothes came and looked exactly as they did on the app, the quality was amazing, and the sizing was true to size except for one bodysuit which was honestly my fault because I didn’t read that the material wasn’t very stretchy- but now I know to order a size up and I’m DEFINITELY purchasing that bodysuit if and when it is in stock again, just in a bigger size. I was hoping they would be as cute in person as they were online. I ordered five items, all inexpensive and really cute. The team consisted of several PhD students including Ernst Ruska. In 1928, at the Technical University of Berlin, Adolf Matthias (Professor of High Voltage Technology and Electrical Installations) appointed Max Knoll to lead a team of researchers to advance research on electron beams and cathode-ray oscilloscopes. To this day the issue of who invented the transmission electron microscope is controversial. According to Dennis Gabor, the physicist Leó Szilárd tried in 1928 to convince him to build an electron microscope, for which Szilárd had filed a patent. Others were focusing of the electrons by an axial magnetic field by Emil Wiechert in 1899, improved oxide-coated cathodes which produced more electrons by Arthur Wehnelt in 1905 and the development of the electromagnetic lens in 1926 by Hans Busch. ![]() One significant step was the work of Hertz in 1883 who made a cathode-ray tube with electrostatic and magnetic deflection, demonstrating manipulation of the direction of an electron beam. Many developments laid the groundwork of the electron optics used in microscopes. Reproduction of an early electron microscope constructed by Ernst Ruska This articles contains some general information mainly about transmission electron microscopes. They use electron optics that are analogous to the glass lenses of an optical light microscope. The separated electron is called the auger electron (Figure 1).An image of an ant in a scanning electron microscopeĪn electron microscope is a microscope that uses a beam of electrons as a source of illumination. This excess energy is compensated by the separation of an electron from the outer layer of the atom or the emission of X-rays from the atom. The descent of an electron to a lower energy layer causes excess energy in the atom. The hole created in the atom is filled by electrons at a higher energy level due to the separation of the secondary electron. Each of the incident electrons can produce several secondary electrons. The electron separated from the atom that leaves the atom with very little energy (about 5 electron volts) is called a secondary electron. As a result of this energy transfer, the incident electron loses some of its energy and changes direction, and the specimen atom loses its electron and ionizes. Their path is so close to the specimen atoms that some of their energy is transferred to the electrons of the atom. A number of other electrons pass close to the atoms. ![]() These electrons are called backscattered electrons. Some of the electrons collide with the specimen atoms and return in the opposite direction by changing their direction 180 degrees. Different reactions may occur when a high-energy electron beam strikes a specimen. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This charming easy landscape class is 1 hoot for new beginners. But even if Epstein and Friedman don’t fully document Mac’s vision, they do get across what it was and why it mattered. As Mac explains early on, performance artists feel like they’ve succeeded even if they’ve bored or annoyed the audience - and there are likely moments in this version of “Taylor Mac’s 24-Decade History of Popular Music” that will do just that, even to people who enjoy most of it. We do see their reactions though, as they cycle through excitement, exhaustion, caution and rapture, before landing in a place of sharing and support. It was an attempt to reframe hundreds of well-known songs through the eyes of some of the world’s marginalized people.Ĭonspicuously absent here? Any thoughts from the crowd about what spending the day with Mac was like. This piece wasn’t some “Hey you know what would be cool?” lark. They also weave in occasional interviews with Mac and various creative partners, talking about motivations and methods, and the grueling realities of the show. But they do fit in a good number of songs - either complete or in fragments - along with many of Mac’s over-the-top get-ups and provocations. Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (the co-directors of “Common Threads” and “The Celluloid Closet,” among many other acclaimed nonfiction films) can’t contain the entirety of “Taylor Mac’s 24-Decade History of Popular Music” within their 106-minute movie of the same name. It was a communal happening, with a large group of performers and theatergoers - led by Mac - working together to understand how music captures its times, in ways both inspiring and regrettable. The show featured audience participation, elaborate drag costumes, acerbic historical footnotes, occasional snacks and a 24-piece backing band that would lose one member every hour. In 2016, performance artist Taylor Mac reached the culmination of a project the performer had been developing with several collaborators for years: a 24-hour concert/experience, with each hour featuring songs from a different decade, beginning in the 1770s and ending in the 2010s.
